Vodka and other drain cleaners

Vodka as Polish as Beetroot soup!

I can't have a Polish inspired website without mentioning Polish Vodka can I? There are numerous kinds of Vodka some are good for digestion, some as medicine and others for cleaning drains and tape heads!

Considering I was brought up as a Pole, I don't actually drink Vodka and whist on the subject I don't like fish either!

The only time I ever have Vodka is Cherry Vodka to add to black tea, lemon and some honey as a cold cure!
It does work I promise try it!
You only add a small shot the idea is not to get drunk but kill the bugs. (See my blog on mums medical cures).

There is a Vodka called Rectified Spirit which is 99% Proof so basically rocket fuel.
You must NEVER ever drink it neat or it will suffocate you. FACT! It removes the oxygen from your throat not least burn it.

Incidentally it's also good for cleaning tape heads on Cassette players, something I doubt anyone will be worrying about in 2019.

Every party or birthday, there was plenty of Polish Vodka, Bells Scotch and Drambuie or Cognac Brandy - real hardcore stuff with some Canada Dry Ginger Ale, de riguer in the 1970's!

Exhibit A below:

Observe the said drinks plus the give away Baby Cham glasses. We still have 2 sets that I do use sometimes just for some retro fun.

I expect the Scotch was from his days at Killearn Hospital. Dad also liked Porridge, again I expect after 4 years in a hospital these things eventually become the norm. (Not the Bells of course on the ward but maybe after hours).

There are a few Scottish links to my family, but more of that in other wee blogs.

The Poles like the French tend to drink but with food and don't go out of their way to get smashed in the first 5 mins (maybe they do now but not in those days).

It was funny seeing these elderly people get quietly drunk to the point they struggled to go upstairs to the loo.
Oh and yes that shiny Orange curtain in the photo was sewn by mum. It was the 70's everything was orange, beige and brown.
